Environs returns to @dadabarnyc ! Bringing together music that embraces texture, improvisation, and the environment.

Jennifer Pyron is a classical vocalist, improvisational performer, and writer based in Brooklyn, NY. She composes art song cycles that dive deep into the psyche through her voice, synthesizer, layered processing, loop station and keyboard. Her work, Drone Meditations, builds on important topics, including genocide, mass surveillance, the “war on terror,” and the U.S. drone program. Sound clips used in this live performance are sourced from Bisan Owda’s Instagram account @wizard_bisan1.

Kaizan Connor is a musician who thinks about sound, silence, and sound/silence structures. Sometimes these ideas are realized on contrabass, and sometimes they unfold by way of “other means”; sometimes these ideas are premeditated, and sometimes they happen instantaneously.

Celine Kang is a guitarist, composer and improviser based in New York. Starting her life in music in South Korea, she has been performing in diverse genres of music including but not limited to r&b, gospel, rock, pop, improvised music etc. Celine has started her career in music as recording artist and performing live, and is currently working on her own projects of her original compositions and improvised music https://www.celinekangsy.com/.

Leftpop is the project of musician, sound engineer, and producer Harrison Adams. His current keyboard work takes ecology, abundance, and material flux as inspiration in a series of compositions and structured improvisations. The resulting album is entitled “rain enough.”

paper gem produces sample-based hip hop and is experimenting with melding ambient, slowcore and electronic styles. He is a part of the 100Fold collective (a mix of rappers and producers) and has previously released projects with the collective, as a duo alongside rapper Nigel Xavier and beat tapes/remixes as a solo artist. He’s exploring visual art/collage and DJing to share some of his eclectic music.
